Monastrell is the spanish name of a grape variety known in France as Mourvèdre.

Mourvèdre grows in Rhone, Languedoc Roussillon and mostly in Provence. Basically Mourvèdre is cultivated in the french wine regions on the border of the Mediterranean Sea. Mourvèdre needs a long summer and a lot of sun.
